Sailor Moon MAKEUP!

Yes, you read that right - Sailor Moon makeup! Actual Sailor Moon makeup to be released! You can read about it here in Japanese.

Bandai is teaming up with Creer Beaute to bring us this special powder compact as part of the celebration of Sailor Moon's 20th Anniversary.

Those who have brought us The Rose of Versaille and Lum-chan makeup, now present the Sailor Moon Miracle Romance Shining Moon Powder.

Moon Crystal Power! Make up! indeed! :)

The brand is inspired by Sailor Moon - the princess of the Moon who is also a sailor solider (or bishoujo senshi) who fights to protect the happy times and the people she holds dear. This broach is for the girls who've grown into women to continue to look cute and sparkly while they fight for these ideals in our modern society.

Or something like that. :P

The compact or broach is designed in the style of Sailor Moon's crystal star broach which she uses to transform in the 2nd series of the anime, Sailor Moon R.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon R - Miracle Romance Shining Room Powder is available for pre-order from the 12th June 2013 and will be released in November 2013 (tentative) for 3,980 yen.

Will you be ordering one? I'm so tempted, although I'm so broke at the moment, and I need more makeup like a hole in the head, but, but, but, it's Sailor Moon!

I'll punish you in the name of second winter

I dunno about you, but it's freezing here. Like, ridiculously cold. It was snowing the last two weekends. We're going to change our clocks to British Summertime and it's 0 degrees C (that's 32 F) out there! This is not right. Not right. It should be spring.

In attempts to keep warm, I've been cranking the heating up, which kinda sucks, cos heating is really expensive, so that means less money for shopping. Boo. But I did manage to buy some new mugs. Well... I am drinking all those extra cups of tea to stay warm.

Here they are, my latest purchases - 3 Sailor Moon mugs of Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus. There are actually 6 in this series (that I could find), including Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, and Tuxedo Mask. I couldn't resist the full set, but for some reason I couldn't get the others sent to the UK, so my Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, and Tuxedo Mask mugs are awaiting for me and my mom's house in the US.

However, thought I'd share with you.

The mugs are white with some grey scale and a bit of colour on each mug. They're pretty muted in terms of colour. From looking online I really thought they might be grey, rather than white, but there ya go.

Each mug features a Sailor senshi/scout/soldier drawn in one colour (Mars was in light blue, Jupiter in green, and Venus in yellow) with the official Sailor Moon logo, and the planet symbol on the 'back' They also have the text 'I'll punish you in the name of Mars/Jupiter/Venus' running across the top and bottom.

These retail for between $15 to $25 USD. Are they worth it? Hm, maybe not. They aren't amazing. I would have preferred to see brighter colours and a more colourful design, but they are official Sailor Moon products and the release includes more than just Sailor Moon (other senshi/soldiers feature equally) which is a real plus for me. So they were worth it for me. I recently cleared out some room in my kitchen cupboard and I think if I hadn't bought these, it would have bothered me. Plus I'm obcessed with 'cute' crockery. I have so many mugs, bowls, and plates with kitties, bears, Snoopy, Hello Kitty, or Miffy on them it's unreal.

Moon Crisis Power Makeup! Kiss Cosmetics Mix Heart and Mix Moon Review

For some background on Kiss cosmetics and the Mix Heart Blush and Mix Moon Highlighter release, please see my first part of this blog here.

So I'm excited to say that I've got my hands on a Mix Heart blush in 02 Apricot Pink and a Mix Moon highlighter in 01 Pink Sherbert.

Before I can get to my review and the swatches, I have to say that part of the appeal for these for me really was the design. I love the heart and moon motif, and as a Sailor Moon fan, it just reminds me so much of Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon's transformation brooches.

Okay, let's start with the blush: Mix Heart in 02 Apricot Pink

The blushes feature a darker colour with a lighter shimmer colour.

I would describe the two shades in Apricot Pink (02) as a peach and light pink. Both colours have a lot of shimmer. The darker colour leans to the pink side of peach, and is fairly pigmented.

Moving on to the highlighter: Mix Moon in 01 Pink Sherbert

Like the blushes, there are two shades in the Mix Moon compacts. Pink Sherbert is the lighter of the two Mix Moon compacts available. The other looked more beige to me.

I would describe the crescent moon colour as a pale pink, and the lighter shade as white. They both have a lot of shimmer. They were hard to catch on camera, but I think the swatch below does them justice.

I really enjoy using both of these. They apply really well and I find them very wearable. You might not like them if you don't like shimmer. Although you really notice the shimmer in the pan and in the swatches, because you only lightly dust it on your face, it's not that noticeable.

Each comes with a small brush which can fit inside of the clear case (no mirror) and retails for  1,200 yen (before tax) each in Japan, and are available from Ichibankao now.

I imagine you could live without these, but they are precious and not too expensive. Also they are very good quality, and I'm not disappointed with my purchases at all.

I think Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon would approve as well!

Kiss Cosmetics 10th Anniversary Mix Heart and Mix Moon releases

Kiss is a Japanese drugstore cosmetics brand which has released some lovely blushes and highlighters to celebrate their 10th anniversary!

The model looks pretty excited! Actually, she kinda reminds me of Leah Dizon, but maybe that's just me?

Mix Heart Cheeks blush is on the left and Mix Moon Highlight is on the left. They look amazing. I know it's terribly girly of me, but I'm loving it! And yes, there's a little girl inside my head jumping up and down thinking Sailor Moon would love this makeup.

Chibi Usa and Usagi would be all over these compacts

The theme for this make up is a cute and happy face. Usagi-chan would approve whole-heartedly!

The Mix Heart Cheeks blushes are adorable! There are two colours in each compact and there's a heart with the brighter shade. There are 4 colours available:

01 Dolly Pink
02 Apricot Pink
03 Fruity Orange
04 Little Rose

Kiss suggests mixing the two colours and applying in two different ways:
Cute: in a circle on the cheek
Lady-like: in a heart-shape on the cheek

The Mix Moon Highlight powder is available in two shades arranged like a crescent moon:
01 Pink Sherbet
02 Pure Beige

The picture speaks for itself, but here's where Kiss recommends you apply the highlighter powder.

I can't be the only one thinking of holding one of these compacts and shouting 'Moon Prism Power, Make-up!'  Okay, maybe I am! ¬_¬

Both retail for 1,200 yen (before tax) in Japan, and are available from Ichibankao now.

I'm going to have order some of these, but I'm still deciding which ones. How about you?

Felt like sharing this beautiful fan art of Super Sailor Chibi Moon. It just seemed fitting and it's so gorgeous, isn't it?

Also, a song from Leah Dizon for good measure. Enjoy!

Winter Blues: candles, tea, manga and a sneak peak of spring makeup

Okay, I'll admit it. I've got a case of the Winter Blues.

The days are short and busy, and it's freezing out. I feel like hibernating.

Snowy evening in my 'hood

I don't fight the feeling. I wrap up in blankets, curl up with a cup of tea in front of the TV or a with a good book (sometimes the book isn't good).

One of my favourite teas

I just read the latest English translation of volume 1 of the Sailor Moon manga by Takeuchi Naoko. I actually read this as a child in French translation (the Glenat release), and then later I read them all in Japanese. For those who were fans, the Mixx/Tokyo Pop translations were pretty disappointing.

The latest releases are by Kodansha, the Japanese publisher of the Japanese manga, and the translations are much better. Okay, to be fair, I don't have my Japanese manga with me to truly compare, but I'm pretty impressed. I love love loved this series as a child, a teenager, and well okay, I guess I never stopped loving it. I'm happy to see it being re-released in English with a better translation for more people to be able to read this amazing story!

I also like to light some candles to help me relax.

Even tho, I love to stay in when it's cold, I did venture out into the snow today and built a little snowman for one of my besties. And yes, it's supposed to be minimal, so he's not supposed to have a face. :P

Also I'm planning my next giveaway and really excited about it. I really want to know what my lovely readers want, so please vote in the poll (it's on the right hand scroll towards the top of the page/post). You can vote for more than one option, or leave me a comment, send me a tweet, etc!

Fear not, I will get back to beauty blogging! In the meantime, I thought you might like a sneak peak of some of what I've got coming up!

Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color N 18 Bird Flutter Review and Swatch

Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color N Bird Flutter

I've already raved about how this was my top pick from Jill Stuart's Spring release here, but it's finally arrived and I'm ready to review it! Okay, it arrived ages ago, I've just been busy. But hopefully the wait is worth it!

Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color Ns (the N is for 'new' I imagine, as the previous range was Jelly Eye Color) are one of my favourite products from Jill Stuart Beauty. They are super soft, and sparkly, and they don't fall out! They also have a lovely sweet smell to them, but you don't notice it once it's applied, so if you don't like the scent, it's no biggie. I just think it's a nice touch.

indoor light with flash

Oh yes, and of course, the packaging is lush. I love it. So delicate and lovely, yet sturdy and not cheap-feeling. What a great explanation, it's like I'm a wizard with words or something ¬_¬

natural ligh (OMG! this hardly ever happens!)

Jill Stuart describe Bird Flutter as 'coral orange, like a harmony of small birds happily singing together'. Aww, isn't that sweet? Hrm, yeah I'm not exactly sure I follow, but 'coral orange' sounds right to me. I think it's actually a peachy-colour, which is no suprise to JS fans (most of their releases are pink, pink, and more pink).

It is very pigmented! I have worn it a couple times so far, and it's amazingly bright! I've swatched it below for you.

It's gorgeous though and I'm glad I didn't miss out on this one! Whaddya think?

Speaking of princesses...

Jill Stuart always makes me feel like a princess, and since I've been buying Sailor Moon pigments lately, I'm feeling sentimental, so thought I'd share a song from Sailor Moon - Tuxedo Mirage (タキシード・ミラージュ). It's subtitled, but in Japanese. Sorry, tried to find a good clip with English and Japanese. If you're curious for a translation of the lyrics, here ya go.

Victorian Disco Cosmetics: Sailor Moon Collection Eyeshadow Swatches

What first brought me to Victorian Disco Cosmetics was Pink Sith's post on her Star Wars collection of eye shadow pigments. Although I'm not a Star Wars fan myself (don't hate me!), I have many friends who are, so had to share it with them! I of course checked out what else Smashley has to offer at Victorian Disco Cosmetics shop on Etsy.

That's when I saw it: Sailor Moon Collection (called Sailor Scouts Collection on website)!! OMG! I love Sailor Moon. I mean, seriously love it. I mean I own all the manga in Japanese (regular & deluxe) and in French (regular). I have all 200 episodes of the anime. I've even watched a bunch of the live action stuff, as this manga and anime holds such a soft spot in my heart. So I had to swatch all of the Sailor Scouts Collection and share it with you!

All swatches have been applied with UDPP as a base, if you apply wet, many of these colours are even more vibrant.

Sailor Moon
True golden color with gold flecks and sheen
Lip-safe and Vegan

This is a shimmery gold with sparkles and I love it. It's so beautiful. It's a colour I really adore for eye shadows.

Sailor Mercury
Bright royal blue with blue and red flecks
Vegan, but not lip-safe

Lovely royal blue as described with blue and red shimmer. Gorgeous!

Sailor Mars
Rusty red with a pink sheen
Lip-safe and vegan

This comes off more a pinky red than a red red to me. It has subtle pink shimmer which is nice. It's a lovely colour, but I often find this shade hard to pull off personally as an eye shadow. I'm curious to see this as a lip colour, and think it might be more suitable for my lips than my eyes, but haven't tried it yet.

Sailor Jupiter
Bright lime green with gold flecks
Lip-safe and vegan

Lime green, definitely! A touch frosty on me.

Sailor Venus
Bright golden orange with a slight pink sheen
Lip-safe and vegan

Bright orange, kinda frosty. Very pigmented.

Tuxedo Mask
Deep reddish black with purple and gold sheen
Lip-safe and vegan

OMG, love this colour! It comes out more of a dark purple on me and is super shimmery. I love it!  The multicolour shimmer is a-mazing. It's also very well pigmented. I can only image how dark it goes when applied wet!

Rini
Light baby pink with a pink sheen and gold sparkles
Vegan, but not lip-safe

A frosty light pink, lovely just like Small Lady. It's a Pink Sugar Heart Attack.

Artemis
Bright silvery white with a gold sheen
Vegan, but not lip-safe

Lovely silver, although I can't really see the gold sheen. Looks like a frosty silver with shimmer to me.

Diana
Bright blue based pink with a light purple sheen
Lip-safe and vegan

I'd describe it as a magenta or a berry with a bright pink sparkle. Very bright.

Luna
Deep strong black with a very prominent gold sheen and sparkles
Lip-safe and vegan

Applied wet maybe it looks black, but I found it to apply with primer as a dark charcoal grey with sparkles. Love it. Can't wait to wear it.

Sailor Pluto
Deep teal green with purple reflects
Vegan, but not lip-safe

This is a lovely colour. I really do love the shimmer and the reflects in this colour. I have trouble wearing this sort of colour on my eyes, so I probably won't order it, but it's so beautiful I'm still tempted.

Sailor Neptune
Bright teal with purple reflects
Vegan but not lip-safe

A lovely light aqua with violet shimmer. Beautiful shade.

Sailor Uranus
Bright bright yellow with yellow sparkles
Lip-safe and vegan

Yes, bright is repeated twice in the colour description, and this is such a bright yellow! It's very strongly pigmented and a true yellow. If you're looking for a true and bright yellow, this would be perfect!

Sailor Saturn
Bright purple with red undertones and red flecks
Vegan, but not lip-safe

A lovely colour, although I would describe it more as a light purple or a lilac. It's very soft. I do really like it though. I particularly love the reddish sparkles.

My favourites from the collection?

Tuxedo Mask is amazing! I also love Sailor Moon, Rini, and Luna. These are colours that I wear, so I'm biased. I also want to mention Sailor Pluto, as it's amazing, but teal isn't really my thing on eyes. Sailor Saturn is also beautiful.

Smashley is a smart business woman and has just released some Final Fantasy colours as well! I've heard she's working on something else equally if not more, amazing which I'm sure I'll be posting about when it's released! Actually, I've already ordered a couple of full size Final Fantasy inspired colours, so I'll definitely swatch them. Victorian Disco Cosmetics is the perfect match for a geek girl who loves makeup! I can't wait to dive into these colours and start wearing them!

You can find Victorian Disco Cosmetics on Etsy and full size pigments are $4.50 USD, with sample bags or jars available for all colours.
